Jill Buck\u2019s client has been super-blonde all summer. Now, the season\u2019s changing and Jill\u2019s come up with a quick-and-easy way to transition that heavy highlight line and soften it out. \u201cWe still want all the fun, hot pieces,\u201d says Jill, \u201cbut we need something a bit more natural\u2026and not quite as a high maintenance.\u201d<\/p>\n

THE CHALLENGE:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jill\u2019s blonde-loving client doesn\u2019t want to go darker, but she also doesn\u2019t want to be zooming back to the salon every four weeks for root touch ups (which is inevitable when there\u2019s no sun to naturally keep things light).<\/p>\n

HOW SHE PULLED IT OFF: <\/strong><\/p>\n

All-over Tone:<\/strong>\u00a0LumiShine Demi Liquid 1 oz 9V + \u00bc oz Clear + 1 \u00bc oz 5 Volume LumiShine Developer[\/cesis_icon_box][cesis_icon_box box_top=”50px” box_bottom=”50px” box_left=”50px” box_right=”50px” position=”i_left” i_space=”30″ heading=”STEP-BY-STEP” heading_space=”22″ use_editor=”yes” icon_color=”#333333″ icon=”fa-lab” g_box_separator=”” g_icon_separator=”” g_heading_separator=”” g_text_separator=”” g_button_separator=”” g_module_separator=”” c_box_separator=”” c_icon_separator=”” c_heading_separator=”” c_text_separator=”” t_heading_separator=”” t_text_separator=””]Step 1:<\/strong>\u00a0Start with foiling on a diagonal off the right side of the hairline (\u201cmoney piece\u201d); take fine slices and apply Foil formula for 5 foils. Make sure to leave fine slices of hair in between each foil. If hair is previously highlighted, only highlight the new growth.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong>\u00a0Move to the other side of the head and repeat.<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/strong>\u00a0Working off the natural part, take diagonal slices and apply Foil formula in the same manner. Doing this off the natural part for 3 foils will give you the big-bang money pieces that clients love.<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/strong>\u00a0Repeat on other top side of the natural part.<\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/strong>\u00a0Start taking horizontal weaves and apply the second Foil formula. This should be about 5 foils, working from the side foils towards the natural parting. (Leave out the natural parting and do not highlight. This will allow the client to have more longevity out of their color and room for the root blur.)<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/strong>\u00a0Now that the front area (money shots) are highlighted, take your Root Blur Formula and smudge it at the root. Bring the formula out about 2-4 inches to create depth. Root Blur the formula in diagonals starting in the back. Go in between all the foils in the same method.<\/p>\n

Step 7:<\/strong>\u00a0Process for 20 minutes. Shampoo with\u00a0Blonde Life Brightening Shampoo.<\/a><\/p>\n

Step 8:<\/strong>\u00a0Glaze the entire head with the All-over liquid formula. Process for 15 minutes.<\/p>\n
