10 RULES OF TEXTURE

1. Pay attention to saturation. Even hair that’s on the short side may take more product than you think to penetrate curls and achieve even lift.

2. Look at the length of the hair. Although textured hair may appear short, the natural strands can shrink up to 50%; take that into consideration when mixing formula. (Hair that’s more than two inches long may require you to use more than one formula in order to avoid hot roots.)

3. Deep conditioning is an absolute must. Try Defy Damage Protective Masque to strengthen bonds and protect hair from heat styling and environmental factors.

4. Use a diffuser rather than a full-on blow-dryer to help keep curls defined. The less heat the better.

5. Fingers make the best styling tool on textured hair. Avoid brushing textured hair to preserve the definition and curl pattern.

6. Apply a good hair oil – like K-PAK Color Therapy Luster Lock Glossing Oil — keep strands strong, hydrated, and gleaming.

7. Pat/squeeze your hair dry after you shampoo and conditioner to prevent tangles and maintain curl pattern. Rubbing only leads to frizz.

8. Wash textured hair no more than once a week to preserve moisture and prevent damage.

9. When you feel a tangle, add a drop of K-PAK Color Therapy Luster Lock Glossing Oil and gently massage into hair to ease out the knot.

10. Embrace a multitude of texture shapes, from curves to spirals, zig zags to waves. Whether hair is kinky, coiled, wavy, or full-on curly, there’s no one-shape-fits-all.
