Tiktok Trends On Fire

We can’t help ourselves from going down the hair-trick rabbit hole on TikTok – especially when we see those hacks that make us say, This is GENIUS! Check them out for yourself and see if you agree….

The self-tightening updo

You know when you’re pulling front hair back into a half updo…and you get those awkward “wings” at the sides that won’t lay flat, and a pony on the top that tends to fall? This TikTok hack is a lifesaver:

Pull that front hair back and UP; gather into a ponytail and secure with an elastic.
Slide the elastic up and away from the head a bit, and make a hole in the center of the pony, flipping the ends forward and pull the pony through the hole.
Tighten by pulling up on the pony, and…boom!

From beach to bash

Spent the day in the sun and surf and need to look presentable without time for a shower (much less a stop at home)? Try this instant style that you can actually pull off in your car: Gather front hair into a messy top knot and claw-clip out of the way at the crown of your head. Now, smooth a leave-in treatment (like Defy Damage Protective Masque) into the rest of your hair; release the clip, and brush all hair sleekly into ponytail, holding with a scrunchie. Twist pony into a low bun and secure with a thin elastic hair tie; then add some Power Spray to hold.

Butterfly wishes

Trying to get your long bangs to split perfectly into that butterfly look? After drying your hair, grab the bangs and use your flat iron to pull them straight up and then roll them back. When you release the iron, you get that coveted swoop!

Splitting hairs

Frustrated by that “split” in the back of your head, where your hair always seems to part and expose your scalp (as well as unsightly color grow-out)? Try this hack:

Just before styling, apply a styling mousse (like JoiWhip Firm) to that pesky spot, roughly working it into the hair with your fingers.
Using a small, grabby brush and your blow dryer, dry that area while rubbing the brush back and forth over that area (almost as if you’re teasing the hair).
Very gently, brush top hair only over that volumized spot. The fullness and hold you created will keep hair from splitting apart and revealing the scalp area.
